Marsland Timber celebrated its 160th birthday in 2010 having been formed in 1850 by Joshua Marsland. The company was originally based in Lisbon Street, Leeds and mainly concerned with clog making. As the company grew and the clog trade diminished, Marsland’s moved on to manufacture packing cases which were used world-wide and subsequently onto the timber milling and merchant business.
In 1992 the company opened its Wetherby Branch, the success of which led to the business relocating in its entirety shortly afterwards. The branch at Burley-in-Wharfedale followed in 1995 and Harrogate in May 2010. Whilst the company’s core business remains Timber it has over a period of time expanded its product range to include complementary areas such as a specialist Hardware Trade Counter and a Heavy Side Builders Merchant Trade Counter, thereby offering a “one stop shop” for local tradesman and general public alike.
