Marsland Timber & Building Supplies says goodbye to their longest serving member of staff.

Marsland Timber & Building Supplies says goodbye to their longest serving member of staff.

After 47 years at Marsland Timber & Building Supplies, John Luke is setting off to enjoy his retirement.

John started with Marsland’s when the company was based at its Lisbon Street site in Leeds in 1974, before it moved to Lake Terrace in Hunslet. His main role was as a wagon driver, but he was often needed to operate the workshop machinery and make the packing cases. When Marsland Timber & Building Supplies moved out from the centre of Leeds, John joined up with John Trower at the new Burley-in-Wharfedale branch in 1996 where together they grew the site into a successful branch for the business.

Once the Burley-in-Wharfedale branch had established itself, John moved back to Wetherby where he took on the full time Heavy Goods Vehicle driving position, delivering to North, South and West Yorkshire on a daily basis.

John is a well-known, highly regarded, and much-loved member of the Marsland team who will be greatly missed.  If you’d like to say goodbye to John before he leaves, his last day working with us will be Wednesday 17th November.

The directors and staff at Marsland Timber & Building Supplies wish John a long, happy and very well-deserved retirement.
